How to Fix Vape Leakage

Each tank’s threshold varies, so be sure to check with your tank’s manufacturer for their recommendations.

2. You’re not tightening your tank enough

Another common cause of leakage is a tank that isn’t tightened enough. In order to change the coil on your vape or clean it out—which, yes, you should definitely be doing—you’ll need to disassemble the tank. When you’re ready to put it back together, check that the threads match up and aren’t off-center, which creates gaps. You’ll also want to ensure that the rubber rings create a tight seal to keep the liquid in.

3. You’re tightening your tank too much

Overtightening can be just as bad as not tightening it enough. If you’re putting a bunch of elbow grease into tightening your tank, you’re probably overdoing it and doing more harm than good. When the tank is too tight, it can cause damage to the rubber rings (the o-rings) that create the seal and keep the liquid inside the tank. Once those are damaged, the tank can’t seal properly and allows the liquid to spill out.

4. You have damaged O-rings

If you suspect that your o-rings may be causing the leaks, disassemble the tank and remove and inspect the o-rings. Check them for signs of wear and tear, stretching, or breaks. This could be caused by over-tightening the tank or just the age of the o-rings. If you notice any damage, head to your nearest vape supply shop and get a new set. Just be sure to get the right size!

Finally, you should always complete regular maintenance and checks on your vape tank. Dirty tanks can compile juice residue that causes leaks. When you replace your coil, clean your tank in cold water and let it air dry overnight for best results.
